India and Pakistan will face off on October 14 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. There will be one ODI World Cup game between the two sides. Former Pakistani bowler Aaqib Javed thinks Pakistan would be the superior side and that there is a “great chance” that the squad will beat India on Indian territory since their “fitness and form is not up to the mark” in the next game. India and Pakistan last played each other in a bilateral series in January 2012. In India, Pakistan was on tour.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-123496″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-you-dont-get-world-cups-on-a-platter-you-have-to-work-hard-says-rohit-sharma-images-90-11zon.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com you dont get world cups on a platter you have to work hard says rohit sharma images 90 11zon” width=”1000″ height=”560″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-you-dont-get-world-cups-on-a-platter-you-have-to-work-hard-says-rohit-sharma-images-90-11zon.jpg 300w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/theindiaprint.com-you-dont-get-world-cups-on-a-platter-you-have-to-work-hard-says-rohit-sharma-images-90-11zon-150×84.jpg 150w” sizes=”(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px” title=”You Don't Get World Cups on a Platter, You Have to Work Hard, Says Rohit Sharma 3″>

The Men in Blue play the whole five-game T20I series sans Kohli and Rohit. While India was playing the West Indies in a T20I series, India’s skipper Rohit visited a La Liga event where the seasoned batter talked extensively about the impending World Cup.

The Indian skipper recognized that Team India’s No. 4 position is a challenge before the Asia Cup and World Cup.

During the unique conversation, Rohit emphasized the need of giving India’s seasoned players a rest in bilateral series as they get ready for the World Cup. In answer to a query regarding India fielding a reserve squad against the West Indies to explain the absence of seasoned batsmen (him and Kohli) from the T20I series, Rohit made an interesting reply.

“We did the same thing last year as well; the T20 World Cup was on, so we skipped one-day cricket. Now that the ODI World Cup has begun, we are proceeding in the same manner and skipping the T20 format. You cannot prepare for the World Cup while playing every position. We made this decision two years ago. (Ravindra) Jadeja does not participate in T20; why didn’t you inquire about him? I am aware of the attention (on Virat and himself). But Jadeja is also out, Rohit said in response to a question about why Kohli and he weren’t chosen for India’s most recent T20I assignments.

Run-machine Kohli and skipper Rohit have not participated in a T20 International for India since the 2022 World Cup quarterfinal against England. The 36-year-old also said that his squad is ‘desperate’ for the 2018 World Cup to be their chance to break India’s ICC trophy drought. In 2013, India last won an ICC title. The previous time the Asian giants staged the 50-over tournament was in 2011, and India took first place.

“To be quite honest, I’ve never taken home a (50 overs) World Cup. Winning one is a goal of mine, so being here and competing for it makes me happier than anything else. “You don’t get World Cups on a platter, you have to really work hard and that is what we have been doing all these years from 2011 till now, we are all fighting for it,” Rohit remarked.
