Before the ICC World Cup starts next month, interest has focused on the successful spin bowling duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja reuniting in a colorful jersey. Veteran off-spinner Ashwin returned to white ball cricket on Friday as India’s acting skipper KL Rahul invited Australia to bat after winning the toss in the first of a three-match ODI series being played at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium, Mohali. Ashwin was looking to make a last-minute addition to the World Cup squad.<img decoding=”async” class=”alignnone wp-image-195305″ src=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-ash-jaddu-resurfaces-in-a-colorful-jersey-as-india-elects-to-play-against-australi-750×500.jpg” alt=”theindiaprint.com ash jaddu resurfaces in a colorful jersey as india elects to play against australi” width=”1371″ height=”914″ srcset=”https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-ash-jaddu-resurfaces-in-a-colorful-jersey-as-india-elects-to-play-against-australi-750×500.jpg 750w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-ash-jaddu-resurfaces-in-a-colorful-jersey-as-india-elects-to-play-against-australi-1024×683.jpg 1024w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-ash-jaddu-resurfaces-in-a-colorful-jersey-as-india-elects-to-play-against-australi-768×512.jpg 768w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-ash-jaddu-resurfaces-in-a-colorful-jersey-as-india-elects-to-play-against-australi-150×100.jpg 150w, https://www.theindiaprint.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/theindiaprint.com-ash-jaddu-resurfaces-in-a-colorful-jersey-as-india-elects-to-play-against-australi.jpg 1200w” sizes=”(max-width: 1371px) 100vw, 1371px” title=”Ash-Jaddu resurfaces in a colorful jersey as India elects to play against Australia 3″>

The series offers both teams the opportunity to improve their weaknesses before to the ICC World Cup, which begins on October 5, in what is referred to as the last dress rehearsal.

India, who just won their eighth Asia Cup title last week, did not have many opportunities to chase totals during the tournament, with the exception of the dead rubber match against Bangladesh and last Sunday’s championship game, when the openers easily defeated Sri Lanka’s 50-run total. After losing to South Africa 3-2 in their last match, Australia is back in action.

After resting players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Kuldeep Yadav for the first few games, India has chosen to test its bench. It would be fascinating to watch how Mumbai-born Suryakumar Yadav reacts to the faith, especially with head coach Rahul Dravid lending his support to the struggling player.

Shreyas Iyer, another Mumbai batsman, has been added to the Playing XI after missing a lengthy period of international cricket due to injury and suffering a back spasm.

India made the choice to rest Asia Cup finalist Mohammed Siraj in favor of Mohammed Shami in order to provide him much-needed playing time.

Pat Cummins, the captain, and Steve Smith, the senior batter, are both returning for Australia after missing the South Africa series due to separate wrist injuries. However, Australia is dealing with a lot of injury problems. Both all-rounder Glenn Maxwell (ankle) and pacer Mitchell Starc (groin) are out today.

Maxwell is now in route to India after returning from the South Africa T20 series without participating due to ankle discomfort and being there for the birth of his son. As he waits for the birth of his first kid, Ashton Agar is not in India. Last Sunday, Nathan Ellis (adductor) and Sean Abbott (split webbing) both sustained injuries, while Travis Head’s participation in the World Cup is uncertain due to his broken hand.

Teams:

India: Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah. Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul (C & WK).

David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis (WK), Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Short, Pat Cummins (C), Sean Abbott, and Adam Zampa are all members of the Australian team.
