The trio of Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Fazalhaq Farooqi have been granted a “limited” number of NOCs (No Objection Certificates) to participate in T20 franchise contests worldwide, as the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has decided to loosen its sanctions against them.

The three players are now eligible to sign central contracts, according to the board.

For those who don’t know, the three players requested to be freed from their central contracts so they could play for T20 teams throughout the world, and the ACB did just that last month.

Following the three players’ contact to the board expressing “a strong desire to represent the country again,” ACB changed its position.

The group has received a last warning and had its monthly compensation reduced. The board “may grant central contracts to these players while strictly monitoring their performance and discipline in events,” according to a press statement from the ACB.

“The players have definitely helped the squad succeed and have done a great job representing the country according to its ideals. As we want them to represent the nation with the utmost decorum, we hope that they would refrain from causing such annoyances in the future,” ACB head Mirwais Ashraf stated.

“There are no exceptions for anyone in this respect; the ACB and the rules are above all of us, therefore it’s crucial to abide by them. But since we value the reputation of the Afghanistan Cricket and the organization, such situations will be handled more sternly,” he continued.

Notably, Afghanistan’s upcoming assignment is a three-match Twenty20 International series against India on the latter’s home ground, beginning on January 11.
